To commemorate World Population Day 2025, themed “Empowering Young People to Create the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World,” Rahnuma-FPAP organized awareness seminars. Workshops and walks across Pakistan. These activities aimed to sensitize the public on the implications of high population growth and highlight the critical importance of family planning and reproductive health (FP & RH) services. A wide range of stakeholders—including representatives from the public and private sectors, youth leaders, and community champions—actively participated to reaffirm their commitment to advancing the population agenda in Pakistan.

🌍 Strengthening Immunization Through Civil Society Engagement in Pakistan 💉

The Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI) Government of Pakistan, The Expanded Programme on Immunization Pakistan today hosted an important on boarding meeting for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) under the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance CSO Fund Manager mechanism marking a pivotal moment for EPI. The meeting Chaired by Dr. Shabana Saleem, Director General Health / FDI Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Islamabad, the session brought together CSOs, development partners, and EPI stakeholders from across all four provinces. In her opening remarks, Dr. Saleem thanked Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, MannionDaniels, Oxford Policy Management (OPM), and the 17 selected CSOs for their commitment to reaching the most underserved communities. Carrie Madison Gheen, Senior Country Manager at Gavi, reaffirmed the importance of this collaboration saying “Federal and provincial governments’ leadership in CSO engagement exemplifies how strategic collaboration can drive higher immunization coverage. Karen Stephenson, Team Lead at Mannion Daniels, added, that robust monitoring and a shared vision, this initiative moves into its implementation phase paving the way for stronger routine immunization and equitable health for all children in Pakistan.
FP 2030 Provincial CSOs Coalition Meeting organized by Rahnuma-FPAP in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan at Quetta

FP 2030 Provincial CSOs Coalition Meeting Balochistan brought together key stakeholders to address pressing population challenges in the province in line with FP2030 Pakistan Commitments convened by Rahnuma-FPAP in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan at Quetta, Mr. Muhammad Azeem Kakar, Director General PWD Balochistan while formally inaugurating the meeting emphasized the critical role of civil society in bridging the gap between government initiatives and community needs in tackling population issues. Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, CEO Rahnuma-FPAP, provided crucial insights into the country’s demographic challenges, stressing the urgent need for family planning services, particularly given the 2.4% population growth rate and the significant unmet need for family planning and reproductive health services (17%). Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan, Program Specialist SRH&R UNFPA Balochistan reinforced the importance of CSO collaboration in these efforts. Mr. Abdul Sattar Shahwani, Divisional Director of PWD Balochistan outlined PWD Balochistan’s proactive measures and ongoing initiatives to improve access to family planning services across the province. Ms. Fozia Shaheen, Chairperson Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), updated attendees on recent legislative developments related to reproductive health, youth empowerment, and protection against gender-based violence. The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion that engaged participants in meaningful dialogue on future strategies, reinforcing a collective vision for shared responsibility in population and health. Mr. Abdullah Khan, Secretary of PWD Balochistan wrapped up the meeting by acknowledging the collaborative spirit and the vital role of community mobilization in achieving family planning targets.

Ms. Hadia Nawaz, Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare Department, Government of Balochistan, visited Rahnuma-FPAP Regional Office Balochistan to explore ways of strengthening FP & RH services through public-private partnerships. During her visit, she was briefed on Rahnuma-FPAP’s achievements and ongoing activities, particularly those aimed at supporting vulnerable and marginalized populations in Balochistan. Ms. Nawaz also reviewed operations of Rahnuma-FPAP Family Health Hospital and the KATO Women Development Center expressing her deep appreciation for Rahnuma-FPAP’s efforts towards women’s empowerment and population development

This initiative reflects our pledge to maintain a healthy and peaceful environment for all segments of life. To mark Pakistan’s Independence Day 2024 Dr. Syed Asif Hussain CEO Rahnuma-FPAP planted a tree at the Family Health Hospital in Lahore. Special appreciation is due to Rahnuma-FPAP’s Regional Director for Punjab, Ms. Samina Ashraf, and her team, who successfully planted more than 1,530 trees at Rahnuma-FPAP Service Delivery Points (SDPs) across Punjab.

The Government of Punjab, Directorate General Social Welfare and Bait Ul Maal Punjab has renewed Rahnuma-FPAP registration for next two years from July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2026. By declaring it statuary body and lawful entity.
