Ms. Nuzhat Shirin a renowned scholar and human rights champions and first Chairperson of Provincial Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Sindh. She attended international csw conference in New York as chairperson of SCSW, she gets first Award of UN Women Pakistan on completed task in connections with global campaign of violence against women. She started her career as a journalist in 1982, worked as sub-editor, reporter and editor of different political and social Urdu magazine and newspaper, published hundreds of articles, feature, investigative reports in different issues. In 1996 she joined WADA ( an NGO) and worked for women’s rights, in 1998 joined Aurat Foundation during this job focus on women friendly legislation and worked closely with the national and provincial leadership of political parties. She worked in different districts of Sindh and established District Action Committees in Sangher, Nawabshah(SBA), Hyderabad, Thatta and Sukkur to organized home based women workers. She authored two books on women and environment and Law & order situation in Sindh. As a member of civil society from Aurat Foundation Sindh she represented Pakistan at CEDAW (Convention of Elimination of Discrimination against Women) committee meeting in Nepal Khatmendo, she joined a key speaker on the issue of violence against women at Bombay University Political Science Department. She worked as coordinator of Sindh in NCHR Karachi office to facilitate survivor of human rights in Sindh and organized visit , consultations and seminars etc. along with other official work.
