FP 2030 Provincial CSOs Coalition Meeting organized by Rahnuma-FPAP in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan at Quetta
FP 2030 Provincial CSOs Coalition Meeting Balochistan brought together key stakeholders to address pressing population challenges in the province in line with FP2030 Pakistan Commitments convened by Rahnuma-FPAP in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan at Quetta, Mr. Muhammad Azeem Kakar, Director General PWD Balochistan while formally inaugurating the meeting emphasized the critical role of civil society in bridging the gap between government initiatives and community needs in tackling population issues. Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, CEO Rahnuma-FPAP, provided crucial insights into the country’s demographic challenges, stressing the urgent need for family planning services, particularly given the 2.4% population growth rate and the significant unmet need for family planning and reproductive health services (17%). Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan, Program Specialist SRH&R UNFPA Balochistan reinforced the importance of CSO collaboration in these efforts. Mr. Abdul Sattar Shahwani, Divisional Director of PWD Balochistan outlined PWD Balochistan’s proactive measures and ongoing initiatives to improve access to family planning services across the province. Ms. Fozia Shaheen, Chairperson Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), updated attendees on recent legislative developments related to reproductive health, youth empowerment, and protection against gender-based violence. The meeting concluded with an interactive discussion that engaged participants in meaningful dialogue on future strategies, reinforcing a collective vision for shared responsibility in population and health. Mr. Abdullah Khan, Secretary of PWD Balochistan wrapped up the meeting by acknowledging the collaborative spirit and the vital role of community mobilization in achieving family planning targets.
Ms. Hadia Nawaz, Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare Department, Government of Balochistan, visited Rahnuma-FPAP Regional Office Balochistan to explore ways of strengthening FP & RH services through public-private partnerships. During her visit, she was briefed on Rahnuma-FPAP’s achievements and ongoing activities, particularly those aimed at supporting vulnerable and marginalized populations in Balochistan. Ms. Nawaz also reviewed operations of Rahnuma-FPAP Family Health Hospital and the KATO Women Development Center expressing her deep appreciation for Rahnuma-FPAP’s efforts towards women’s empowerment and population development

Mr. Malik Liaqat Ali Khan, Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP, acknowledged the critical role of CSOs in providing universal family planning and reproductive health (FP & RH) services in line with the FP 2030 Commitments. He made these remarks while serving as the Chief Guest at the FP 2030 Provincial CSOs Coalition Meeting organized by Rahnuma-FPAP in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan at Peshawar. The meeting was attended by CSOs and Youth Champions and Public Sector officials. Prominent among them were Mr. Imran Ali Lohani, Secretary of PWD KP, Mr. Askar Pervez MPA, Ms. Mehar Sultana ex MPA, Dr. Jameel Ahmed UNFPA (Joined via zoom) Dr. Ghulam Farid UNFPA and Mr. Muhammad Imran Director PWD KP.
In his welcome address, Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, CEO Rahnuma-FPAP, emphasized the organization’s leadership in advancing the FP 2030 Commitments and its contributions toward improving family planning and reproductive health services for vulnerable and marginalized populations. Dr. Anjum Rizvi, Director PMD Rahnuma-FPAP provided an update on the project’s main goals and its progress. Mr. Imran Ali Lohani, Secretary of PWD KP, reiterated his commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships to ensure equitable FP & RH services at provincial level. Ms. Riffat Sardar, Chairperson Rahnuma-FPAP, while concluding the meeting, underscored the essential collaboration between the public and private sectors in achieving the FP 2030 goals.
BCRA has granted extension in Rahnuma-FPAP's registration
Balochistan Charities Registration & Regulations Authority has granted extension in Rahnuma-FPAP’s registration (under Registration No.: BCRA-115434, in accordance with Section 4(4) of the Balochistan Charities (Registration, Regulation, and Facilitation) Act No. XI of 2019.
The Rahnuma-FPAP has been granted Category (A) status, allowing it to operate across entire Balochistan. Rahnuma-FPAP Regional Director Balochistan, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Mengal and his team deserves appreciation for timely completion of this task.

Recognizing the critical connection between climate change and population issues, and under the vision of Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, CEO Rahnuma-FPAP, we are marking this year’s Independence Day by planting trees across our service delivery setups nationwide. This initiative reflects our pledge to maintain a healthy and peaceful environment for all segments of life. To mark Pakistan’s Independence Day 2024 Dr. Syed Asif Hussain CEO Rahnuma-FPAP planted a tree at the Family Health Hospital in Lahore. Special appreciation is due to Rahnuma-FPAP’s Regional Director for Punjab, Ms. Samina Ashraf, and her team, who successfully planted more than 1,530 trees at Rahnuma-FPAP Service Delivery Points (SDPs) across Punjab.

Government of AJ&K Takes Bold Steps to Strengthen NGO Sector
The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) is making significant efforts to enhance the efficiency and capacity of NGOs by improving their legal framework. This was emphasized by Raja Muhammad Razzaque, President of Rahnuma-FPAP, who served as keynote speaker during a three-day interactive workshop organized by Kashmir Institute of Management for officers from the AJ&K Social Welfare Department. He highlighted the importance of identifying opportunities to strengthen the efficiency and capacity of NGOs through legal reforms, enabling them to better access resources for more effective service delivery to underserved and marginalized communities. Mr. Razzaque also commended the Kashmir Institute of Management for being a pioneer in organizing this vital workshop, which has set a precedent for other provinces to follow, fostering meaningful connections and addressing gaps in the NGO sector
Outreach visit of CEO Rahnuma-FPAP
For the sustainability and strengthening of the organization, Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, Chief Executive Officer Rahnuma-FPAP, is conducting orientation visits to the organization’s outreach infrastructure. Yesterday, he visited the Rahnuma-FPAP Regional Office in KP-Peshawar and the Project Management Office in Mardan. During his visit, he interacted with staff and outreach workers from SDPs, and reviewed the operations and management of the KP region.
Experience Sharing Seminar - Responding with Essential SRH&R Provision and New Delivery Mechanisms (RESPOND) for Pakistan
Objective: Developing an eco-system of volunteers for effectively responding to the essential sexual and reproductive health and rights needs of vulnerable and marginalized sections of society including women, children, and adolescents during disaster and emergency situations.
This was highlighted during an Experience Sharing Seminar organized by Rahnuma Family Planning Association of Pakistan (Rahnuma – FPAP) in Islamabad. The seminar was organized to disseminate project learnings, innovations and insights with stakeholders at the conclusion of a 35 months project which was supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The event was overwhelmingly joined by public sector officials, representatives from UN agencies, INGOs, NGOs, and donor organizations.
Mr. Raja Muhammad Razzaque, the President Rahnuma FPAP, in his welcome remarks underscored the importance of reproductive health (RH), and family planning (FP) services during emergency and disaster situations. Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, CEO Rahnuma FPAP, giving an introduction of Rahnuma FPAP, encapsulated the spread and scope of services, engagement with different public and private stakeholders, and its achievements. Dr. Anjum Rizvi Director Program Management Division, shared project progress, which was implemented in 18 districts across Pakistan between August 2021 and July 2024.
Mr. Neil Hawkins, Australian High Commissioner, the chief guest, highly appreciated the implementation of project and its outcomes. He recalled his visit to project locations, where he noticed the dedication of outreach workers who extended services to the most vulnerable and marginalized communities in project intervention areas.
Ms. Rahila Durrani, Minister for Education Balochistan, highlighted the impact of RH and FP services in reducing the maternal mortality rate. Mr. Sardar Faisal Jamali, Health Minister Balochistan, mentioned about the significance of approaching women and girls in hard to reach areas of Balochistan. Mr. Arbab Talib, Commissioner Afghan Refugees Balochistan, and Dr. Tehseen Fatima, Director RH Afghan Refugees Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, shared the collaboration and coordination extended to Rahnuma FPAP for ensure the provision of RH and FP services in disaster settings.
The seminar was attended by honorable Secretaries, DGs, and Directors of Health and Population Welfare Departments of KP, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh. The event was attended by Dr. Shabana Saleem DG PPW MNHSR&C, Dr, Jamil Ahmed SRH Advisor UNFPA, Dr. Sabina Durrani DG NEHS, Dr. Talib Lashari Technical Advisor CIP Sindh, Dr. Yasmin Sabih Qazi CEO QZ Catalyst, Dr .S.A Rab CEO GSM, Dr. Masuma Zaidi KFW, Mr. Faisal Nazir MSS, Mr. Shahzad Amir CEO Punjab Charity Commissions, and Mr. Idrees Abbasi Secretary to President AJK. Representatives from GWHI, PPIF, UN Women, WHO, DKT, IRC, Pathfinder, and UNHCR etc. contributed in the discussion. Ms. Riffat Sardar Chairperson Rahnuma FPAP in her closing remarks thanked all participants for their invaluable suggestions for improvement in overall nexus between reproductive health, family planning and disaster/ emergency response.

The Government of Punjab, Directorate General Social Welfare and Bait Ul Maal Punjab has renewed Rahnuma-FPAP registration for next two years from July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2026. By declaring it statuary body and lawful entity.
